UPDATE<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The intervention<\/strong> for\u00a0EVA Park groups project<\/a>\u00a0at City, University of London<\/a> is now complete<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Four aphasia support groups<\/strong> have now finished the intervntion. They met every 2 weeks for 6 months.\u00a0A total of 29 people with aphasia<\/strong> completed the intervention.<\/p>\n

The research team is now collecting outcome measures.\u00a0These may show changes that happened as a result of the intervention.<\/p>\n

This is done in two ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n
    \n
  1. Questionnaires and tests<\/strong> that ask about well-being, communication and quality of life.<\/li>\n
  2. Interviews <\/strong>with all the participants, group leaders and volunteers and some participant\u2019s partners. Anna will carry out the interviews.

\u00a0\"\"<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

DISSEMINATION: how to tell people about the results<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/td>\nWe will be meeting with our advisory group<\/strong> in January to discuss the best way of sharing the results<\/strong> with people with aphasia, speech and language therapists and researchers.<\/p>\n

Ideas so far include:
\n– Events<\/strong> where you can come and hear about the project in Spring 2019
\n– A film<\/strong> that shows what the group therapy in EVA Park looked like
\n– An article<\/strong> in the speech therapists magazine<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/td>\nThe research team will be in touch<\/strong> to invite you<\/strong> to hear what we have found<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

FEEDBACK: what people have said about the project<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Coordinator<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

\u201cThey didn\u2019t hold back at all and they really supported each other in, sort of, how they live their life now and moving forwards. So that was like really good peer support in those sessions<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes they (technical problems) overpowered a little bit and got in the way of the flow of the conversation<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe can\u2019t get out of the house and so this has given him an opportunity to, to meet, even virtually, other people, which he wouldn\u2019t have done<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s really, really good. I really enjoyed it and, er, um, only niggling things (technical problems), mm, like it would be good if, mm, it was just perfect.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
